Diane K. Moshman, P.E., CHMM, Consultant
Diane K. Moshman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University and a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. She is a Registered Professional Engineer.
Ms. Moshman has over seven years of progressive work experience as a chemical process engineer in chemical process design, equipment design, process safety, operator training, and plant engineering. She also has over twelve years experience as an environmental engineer working in all phases of environmental assessment, remediation, pollution control, and cleanup.
She has worked for CPC International, a large corn processing company, where she designed chemical process systems. Exemplar projects included increasing production in the feed pelletizer line, bringing two reactors on line to rejuvenate powdered carbon as a cost saving measure, and designing a truck loading station for bulk transport of corn syrup.
Also, Ms. Moshman has worked in the specialty chemicals industry for Morton Thiokol, Inc. Ultra high purity epoxy resin was generated in small batches for sale to the computer chip industry. Concerns regarding hazardous waste generation, hazardous material handling, pollution control, process hazard analyses, and quality control dominated this industry.
As a Remedial Project Manager for the U.S. EPA in Region V, Ms. Moshman successfully guided several Superfund sites through the Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study process. Her work required participation in public meetings and outreach programs, and formulation of written guidelines for regulatory compliance.
For the past seven years, Ms. Moshman has worked as a senior chemical engineer and environmental consultant. Her projects encompassed chemical process safety management, process hazard analyses, equipment failure analyses, hazardous materials handling concerns, property contamination (underground storage tanks, asbestos, lead, hazardous chemicals), and compliance with EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
Ms. Moshman is licensed to perform asbestos inspections in schools, and in commercial and residential properties. She is also licensed to perform lead-based paint risk assessments. Ms. Moshman is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), and teaches biannual classes in asbestos and lead assessment for the Institute of Hazardous Materials Managers.
Ms. Moshman is actively involved with several professional organizations currently writing standards on lead paint, asbestos, environmental management, and property assessment. She has performed original research on lead paint detection techniques. The results were published in the "Journal of Hazardous Materials."
Diane K. Moshman is currently an independent consultant to Meridian Engineering & Technology, providing technical services to industry, lenders, insurance companies, the legal profession, and private individuals.
